Prof. Dr. Kurt Wagemann

Kurt Wagemann studied chemistry at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and obtained his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in 1989.

From 1989 he headed major divisions of DECHEMA, such as research funding, research and project coordination, and congress organisation. In 2010 he took over the position of DECHEMA's Managing Director.

He is regularly engaged as an expert for the evaluation of research institutes and is active on the advisory boards of research institutions and scientific organisations, such as the Board Energy Research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He also chairs the jury for the life sciences section of the EXIST programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

He is furthermore one of the coordinators of the Kopernikus project Power-2-X, a research initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Since 2010 he has held a teaching appointment at Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg. In 2011 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Stuttgart.
