Prof. Dr. Jörg Franke

Jörg Franke, a fully qualified lawyer, chairs a number of supervisory boards of companies in the financial industry. Between 2001 and 2006, Franke was spokesman of the management board of Berliner Effektengesellschaft AG. From 1988 until the end of 2000 he was responsible for building up and managing the Deutsche Terminbörse (DTB), which — as "Eurex" — became the world's largest derivatives exchange within that same decade. Following the founding of Deutsche Börse AG, Franke was in parallel a member of the management board of that company from 1994 until the end of 2000.

In the 1990s, Franke maintained intensive contacts with all the major East Asian financial derivatives exchanges, as well as with the Chinese commodity futures exchanges established early on. He stands behind a number of agreements — some of them still relevant today — between these exchanges and companies of the Deutsche Börse Group, above all Eurex. In the first decade of this century, Franke was involved in building up the first Chinese financial futures exchange in Shanghai. He currently advises, on an occasional basis, CEINEX (China Europe International Exchange), a German-Chinese exchange in Frankfurt in which Deutsche Börse AG holds a stake.
